My rooster suffered an attack yesterday. He's not bleeding, he's in a box in the house. Drinking with a dropper. No food.
His neck appears broken, but how could he be alive? He's wants to stand but can not support his head. I have a towel supporting his neck in the box. He's breathing normal, eyes attentive.

No vets near bye dealing with fowl. Mobile exotic vet house call is $200. Sad. Is there an option or is non recoverable?

5lbs. Was healthy.

You can use rolled up bath towels to help support his neck, he may just be very bruised and sore. Help him to eat and especially drink, so he doesn't become dehydrated, fluids should be room temp to slightly warm. You can also mix his feed (pellets or crumbles) with some water to make a mash, that will help with hydration also. B vitamins can be helpful, a human b complex tablet or capsule once daily.

Thanks Coach. He's still alive on day 3. He's getting some meds and water. I'll try some of the things you suggested. He has stretched his wigs trying to get his feathers comfortable. Still can't hold his head up.
I know most folks believe you need to be thick skinned about chickens, but I'm really pulling for him (Glen Cambell). He's a good boy.

Please let us know the outcome. It could indeed be he is just very sore. I do hope he recovers.
