This coop has bite marks. The coyote pushed the screen in and killed some extra roosters I had in there. You may be able to see the screen pushed in on the pic.

This coop has bite and scratch marks the coyotes could not get in. Chickens are safe.
I got the first one from ebay it was around 450 I dont see that exact model any longer but there are similar ones on there still they all sort of have a similar look. i got the red one at coopsnmore they are also on ebay but this is the coop i got http://www.coopsnmore.com/index.php?l=product_detail&p=229 and it is solid like a fortress it was like 750. If someone were to be making a coop buying decision I hope this helps you.

Sorry for your loss.

With the screen that failed, how was it attached to the frame work? And how far apart were the attachment points?

You may be right abou wire on wrong side but as you can see by the picture that's where the hinge is and the only way that coop would fit together so that would be a design flaw on the manufacturing side.

I feel your pain - they have gotten several of my girls. Ive electrified everything. 120000 volts. I used to use a staple gun with 1/2" staples. That lasted no time at all. It kept the coons and such out but any bigger animal could get through it. Ive switched to 1" fencing staples(like for cattle fencing).

I've seen where people use pennies as a substitute for more expensive washers. I think it is a great idea, but I have no idea about the legality of it.

Look at it this way, if the government is on your land.... misuse of pennies is probably the last of your worries
