Coyote trapping help needed

Will Hunt:

I've no problem whatsoever with hunting for food. None. In fact, I think it's better than raising animals for food, in many ways. However, it seems preferable to minimize one's impact when possible, given our own expanding population, climate change, habitat degradation, and the many other stresses on the environment and the other species that occupy it. I simply put those links out for anyone who might be inclined to have similar concerns. We needn't debate it here.

Please proceed with your trapping discussion and have a wonderful day.

I have to say that I was resistant to this when I read your post... but I followed the links and read.

It is interesting reading - it really is. A lot of that stuff I didn't know - a lot I agreed with, a lot I didn't... but the information is really great. Whether it is a plan a. or plan b., I don't know - but it's good to have alternatives when one or the other doesn't work.

(I live in a fairly snooty place and would LOVE to see how the socialites and gallery directors would respond when I unloaded a guard Llama!

Thank you for posting it.

You are really better off with a guard dog to deter coyotes than trapping them. Coyotes are territorial, and when you kill off the current resident, another moves right in. They are also opportunists. If the pickings are easy, they will take advantage. If they are not, they won't. We have lots of coyotes here. We see them almost every day. They do not bother our stock or our chickens because of the dogs. I do wish they would pick off the peafowl but they can't catch them either.

Coyotes will keep attacking your chickens if they know where to get them. It free food to them. You will have to keep takeing them out but it works.

Contact your local dec and ask about what regs you have to follow.

I know it sound weird, but if you hang up the dead coyote near your chickens, it deters alot of them (basically this is what will happen to you) Ive done this and trust me it worked

Also predator hunting can be lots of fun!
