I have 10 chickens that which have a coop with attached pen that has a roof the pen is anchored down to patio blocks have been seeing coyotes at the edge of the woods behind our house they are some distance from the coop but am concerned they may try to get to chickens what precautions can I take to protect them

:welcome I have a lot of birds and have had my share of predators take birds in the past. First I put electric wire around all of my pens and coops because a bobcat dug under and killed some birds. Next I put heavy duty netting over all of my pens because an owl had gotten in and killed several birds in my open coops and a coyote had went over my 5 foot fence and killed some birds. Finally I put concrete under all of the gates because a fox had dug under one of the gates and killed several birds. Since I haven't had an intrusion from a predator. With just a few birds it should be easy. You can bury some wire around the bottom of your fence to discourage diggers. I don't close the pop doors to the coops because of the precautions I have taken I don't worry anymore. I also have game cameras set up in different places to monitor any activity. Good luck and have fun.

On my game cameras I have seen plenty of predators but they don't come too close to the coops especially if they have made contact with the electric wire.
