Coyotes

I am speaking from experience when I say an electric fence is still worth it and you can get the electric netting and a box for less than $100.

How old are the chicks? They will be old enough to integrate with your hen by six weeks. I’ve put five six week old chicks in with my flock of fourteen without issues. I kept the chicks in a small coop and run that was inside the main coop and run so the big chickens can get used to them. They were in there from four weeks to six weeks of age and I put them with the big birds at six weeks. This would be easier than finding and quarantining a new hen.
They are only a little over a week old but we just have a small hen house. We are in the process of building a bigger pen with a run and a topper to protect them from hawks. So it would be about 3 weeks I guess before they are ready to be outside. The one left has been hopping up on our window to look inside the house. She never did that before. And she comes around us more now. Do you think she will be OK for 3 or 4 weeks alone?

Considering the quarantine time of a new adult addition and how long it may take for them to get used to each other, I think she will be fine without a friend until your youngins are old enough to move to the coop.
Thank you. She seems very needy now. We will just try to interact more with her for now I guess. Having a hard time finding older chickens anyway.

Yes she will be okay. It sucks that she’s alone, but it is what it is. So sorry you lost your flock. Now would be a very good time to bond with your hen. I can assure you she will appreciate the company :) I had an injured hen who became a bit of a pet when we had to isolate her from the flock. She’s been extra friendly and enjoys sitting in my lap even though she’s been back with the rest of the flock for months and months.
