They're smarter than people give them credit. They pass right by my house every night.We have coyotes here, and enjoy their singing at night. In thirty year having chickens, never had losses to them. Our big dogs are fenced near the coop, which might be a deterrent, and the coyotes stay away from our house and outbuildings. Neighbors do shoot them, another probable reason they don't approach our buildings.
When we had foals, the mare and babies came up to the barn area every night. Horses will protect foals, at least, another help.
Glad we don't have wolves!
