@#$&*@% coyotes!

Sorry to hear bout your all your loses. Im not mesding around anymore. My kids are crying bout the ducks getting eaten. I already planned on getting more in march. But I will have motion sensors hooked to lights and blank shells so if anything comes close to the pen hopefully it gets scared off. If not, im running an electric fence around the top and bottom of the fence. Its time for war. Lol
Oh your poor kids, I cried like a baby when my ducklings were killed but this past spring I got 4 Rouen ducklings moved them into a very secure duck house (just at night) and they just started laying for me! I love them!

Ya my gf has a lil house dog. It only goes out during the day. But i got a mini pig that we let out the same time as the dog. It runs straight to the pen to look for eggs. So i might use the pig to test my big bang theory. Scare the pig for a test then see if it works for the coyotes lol. So figure wire my defenses up to a timer or dusk till dawn switch and ill be ok. I hear coyotes all around the house almost every night but never seen them. My ducks grazed from dawn till dusk and never had a problem. But its bout time I go on the offensive and spend a night a week hunting the coyotes.

I have not had any issued with Coyotes but racoons wiped out my entire flock a few months ago. My girlfriend, on the other hand has had foxes, coyotes, and neighbor dogs as well as hawks depleting her flock (chickens). She has trapped, shot, reinforced, left her dog out for the night, etc and so far nothing has worked. We are working up a blueprint for a new coop for her and talking about cementing the bottom. Not sure how her chickens will like that but it will keep them safe. Sorry for your loss. :(

Hey what do u guys think bout wiring up a "flash cracker" holloween prop up to motion sensors? If u google it and watch the video its loud and bright. For about $120 I can get 4 sensors and that flash cracker. Put a sensor on each side of pen and its a full perimeter alarm. Ya itll scare the ducks but do u think it will scare everything else? Its safe, easy, reusable, and relatively cheap way to scare predators.
