Crab apples good for chickens

I have two crab apple trees in my front yard berring all sorts of red fruit.I was wondering...are they good for chickens???

Have had crab apples for yrs in pasture horses birds and chickens have munched on them no problem.Our one and only neighborhood squirrel will defy the dog to get to them!

My chickens love apples/pears/plums.
I never picked the crab apples off the tree last year and the Sumatras are flying up to the branches and knocking them off to eat them.
