Hey BYC! I have duck eggs in the incubator and two of them have cracks. The cracks are not from the birdies in them because I just recently put them in. I accidentally dropped one on my table and the other one I found with a crack. Is it ok to still incubate them? Or should I take them out. Will they live?

Generally eggs with cracks are no good for hatching because the bacteria can get inside the egg. However I believe some people have had success with sealing up the cracks with various substances like nail varnish or wax. This is only possible if the inner membranes have not been damaged, only the outer shell.

How far along into the incubation are the eggs? Have you candled for signs of life? And is there any visible oozing or leakage from the eggs? If they are leaking fluid they must be carefully disposed of.

I put painters tape on a small crack on my egg, and it hatched! I was pretty amazed.
Others have used fingernail polish or candle wax. :)
