So excited! Blue Cochin mom, with fertilized eggs and now they are hatching! Have five eggs, 3 or barnevelders and 2 are Swedish flower from a breeder. Only one egg has pipped and cracked about a third of the way around the egg. Hopefully, the other 4 will follow.

I would like to move mom and babies one nest box over and enclose off that part of the coop for the first week or so. She is low girl on the totem and I don't want to risk the babies being killed by the two other hens in the coop. I should move her after all have hatched?

Thanks all for any advice.

How exciting! I have a broody hen with 7 eggs under her, maybe 5/6 days left for them. I plan on separating her nest in the coop by placing her in my chicken playpen I built years ago. It’ll give her and babies plenty of room while being able to stay in the coop
