Today one on my Barred Rock hens (14 weeks old) had some blood on her beak so I picked her up and tried to nurse her. I wiped the blood off but it looks like her beak is cracked like a fingernail. I has stopped bleeding but she is just setting around, not active like the rest. She still eats but I was just concerned. It's not broked into but maybe a hairline crack. I don't know how she did it, but they play pretty rough at times. Do I need to be concerned or will it grow back normally. It's just the tip maybe a quarter inch or so! It put some Neosprin on it, but I don't think it was there very long. Anyone else experienced this type injury? I'm new here so if there are posts with the answer I'm sorry for asking again! Need advice! Thanks for your good help!!

I have a silkie with a slight 'fracture' to her beak. It doesnt seem to be growing back but it doesnt seem to be getting any worse either. She is in a pretty restricted environment...breeding pen. So she isnt out there free ranging.

I didnt treat it in any way as it doesnt seem to bother her or prevent her from normal activity.

I'm sure you'll hear from some other posters with ideas too. Sundays are kind of slow

I would clean it and maybe take super glue and glue the crack to keep it from cracking further. Don't get it into her mouth though you will glue her mouth shut.
