What nutrients does corn lose when it is cracked?
Jim, I know you love to argue this one to death and I'm just not going to get into that with you. You have your beliefs and I have mine and I suspect that nothing is likely to change your mind. It has long been known that oxidation (of most foods) results in loss of trace nutrients. In the case of corn, once the grain is cracked, and the surfaces exposed to oxidation, they gradually lose trace nutrients, and some other nutrients convert into less usable forms. Freshly cracked corn is great to feed, but few people have the ability to crack their own corn, me included. Therefore, I choose to feed whole corn instead of cracked. However it is up to each person to make their own choice.
