I have an egg that came in with a small crack. Ive tried the wax before and never had it develop. This one I put a small piece of paper towel covering the crack and rubbed some elmers glue on it. It dried and formed like a hard seal. I candled tonight, day 7, and darn if that little bugger isnt developing. What are the odds of it going full term? I know I have to watch out for it exploding, but so far, so good.

I've had great success with the wax method. Just hatched 2 silkies from cracked eggs that I patched with wax.
I don't know about elmer's glue, though. Sounds like it might clog the pores of the egg too much.
I tried nail polish on some eggs before & none of them made it to hatch. I've had the best luck with wax.

I've tried wax 3 times and never had the egg hatch. Some develop, but they tend to be quitters.

Good luck with your little egg. It never hurts to try.

Lisa,
I have stuck them in the bator with the crack and no fixes, I have some chickens out there from those eggs, so I guess it does work

I just hatched a little black mottled d'ucccle today that was a shipped egg and had a hairline crack. I didnt do anything to it. Just put in the bator and crossed my fingers. He's running around the brooder as we speak.

I did an experiment in Poultry Science last year. I washed 10 eggs and didn't wash the other 10. After washing them I noticed one was covered in hairline cracks. I set them all and it hatched! After being cracked and washed. I say you have a good chance. Good luck.

i just hatched a goose egg that had a big crack and rift in the shell but not the membrane. I patched the hole with clear nail polish and it developed and hatched..... so it can. I have 2 Sebbie eggs that had small cracks in them and I glued them and waiting to see how it goes.

My mom used to use scotch tape with good success. I don't know if she ever heard of wax. I'll have to ask her.

Well, so far so good. Ive tried a few in the past that never even started to develop. I'm keeping a close eye on it but i've got my fingers crossed.
