Cracked egg in incubator

We were candling our chicken eggs today and they’re about 5-6 days along. Well one of them slipped out of my hands and has a crack but not through the inner lay, just the shell. Will the egg be able to develop or is it a lost cause trying to keep incubating it?

I’ve actually ran into this before, but it has an easy solution. If you have any clear nail polish on you, just brush it lightly over the crack and carefully put the egg back. After checking on it a couple times to make sure it’s dry, you’ll be good to go ! Good luck with your hatch !

I have also heard that people put wax on them but I think it’d melt in the incubator

I was tempted to do that solution instead, but had the same thought.

I’m trying not to open the incubator but I’ll have to to put some clear nail polish on it.

I've had cracked eggs hatch just fine by putting candle wax over the cracks. You have to let the wax dry up completely before putting it back into the incubator though.

I had to remove an egg last night from my incubator, we pulled them to candle them (day 14) and noticed a large crack and almost a hole, I don’t think nail polish would have helped on mine.
