It’s my first time incubating. Eggs were posted to me, on inspection all looked good I candled a few but saw no cracks so placed them all in the incubator. I’ve been candling one or 2 eggs a day just to check.
Today when candling I noticed one of the eggs is cracked. I think I have candled this egg before but I’m not 100% sure.
Should I candle all the eggs to check for cracks? Im worried that this will cause the incubator to lose too much heat. Should I set a heater near the incubator while candling? Would the eggs be harmed if I took a couple out at a time and set near a heater while candling?

Also I have used 3 different thermometers which are all giving different readings.I don’t know which one to trust. Can anyone recommend a good thermometer?

Don't worry about heat loss in the egg when candling, the hatching egg would experience a cooling off from the mother hen stepping away to poop, eat, and drink.

Try to track of there development.

I only candle eggs 2 times during incubation. Usually day 7 and day 15. The eggs will not cool off instantly, so you can candle all of them at one time. Without worry of them getting chilled. I use Thermco thermometers. They are very pricey, but they are
Thank you. Is there a certain type of their thermometers that are good or the brand in general?

When candling, it's important to candle all of them to know they are progressing. Most people candle on day 6, 12, and 18.

If you clearly see a crack on the shell, it's generally advised to toss it.
Due to potential bacteria forming on and in the egg and spreading to the other eggs.
Thank you,
2 have cracks, they’re only visible when candling. I was considering keeping on to them a little longer to see how they go or to see how it would look if an egg goes “bad”. Would I be better to just toss them? I’m wondering if I would know the egg is “bad” and going to cause damage before it is too late or would it not be noticeable and the other eggs would be damaged before I remove them? I’m unsure if they were damaged while being posted or while in the incubator but I’m only on day 2 (in total they have been in the incubator for 54 hours) the 2 with cracks look the same as the others.

Visible cracks will lead to rotten eggs, holding on to the egg will create a breeding ground for bacteria. In an enclosed environment it will devastate all healthy eggs.

But if you want to experiment with it I suppose you can choose to see for yourself.
