Cracked egg on hatch day

Thanks for the reply. Yes, this crack was probably due to interference. I really wish I could have let her be. But since she was already killing the chicks, I needed to grab the littles before she pecked them.

Awesome broody. Terrible mama.

I have an incubator set up now; going to move over the rest of the eggs. I have a friend set up for a brooding hen so I'll probably give her this one. She might have better luck without a rooster nearby.
If this hen has been sitting for 20+ plus days already it's probably not a good idea for her health tomove her to a new batch of eggs to sit on.

Is that what you are saying above or am I understanding wrong?

You are correct. But I was going to research it first. I want sure if it could be done or should be done. If it seems better to break her broodiness then I'll go that route.

Sitting for that long can be deadly. I would not recommend it.
