this is day 12 of incubation on my corurnix quail. I'm a newbie at this. It's my first time. I've been hand turning my eggs. I've been extremely careful. Candled for cracks and life. None. Then I got the shock of my life when I went to turn my eggs and I noticed my egg was cracked with dried egg on the outside. I've read about putting on candle wax on cracked eggs and then about rotten bombs that explode. Help!!! Do I toss or leave it?!

Hello :frow and Welcome To BYC! Sorry about the egg, you might want to post in the Quail forum about it https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/48/quail (can you candle it?) but that egg looks to be leaking, usually you want to remove those asap so they don't contaminate the other eggs.

Those are called stink eggs, because they are STINK bombs. You want to remove them carefully so they don't explode all over the incubator and other eggs. Best to carefully put them into a plastic bag and close tight - so you can dispose of them safely.

Poor baby after removing it from the incubator it seemed to have a sulfer type smell to it. It now resides in my trash can.
