I have some Brody chicks currently sitting on eggs and 1 chick hatched yesterday and another one is in the process of opening the shell. One of the other eggs is definitely fertile I candles it...but the thing is the egg has a slight crack in it like going inwards small crack that's been there for a couple of days. I didn't think there was a chick in it because I thought it didn't feel like there was one so I picked a piece of the cracked shell off and there's some blood coming out now and now I feel horrible!! Did I kill the chick inside! I candeled it after and there's definitely a chick inside and it looks almost at its 21 days maybe hatch in a day or two I'm not sure.

So I put some clear scotch tape over the opening and made sure the crack was covered and then I put it back under the chicken. Will they baby be ok!???!!! :(

Any updates? I'm in the same situation. Candled the eggs under my broody hen. All looked fertile. Damaged one putting them back!! Really annoyed. Taped the egg, but there was blood.:(

I had hens completely crush an egg right as it was about to internally pip - devastating! I did manage to rescue the chick by bringing it inside and slowly hatching it over about a 24hr, but it was touch and go for the next week as it was weak and I think got an infection. Happy to report that all the TLC paid off and I now have a happy little chick that is about half the size of her/his siblings and growing fast <3 Hope that it turns out well for all of you!

Ours didn't make it :(. Checked the eggs today, when our broody was feeding. There had been some leakage and the egg felt light so I removed it. The other eleven look OK. Hatch day Monday/Tuesday:fl.
