Craigslist experience

we've only had excellent experiences and met a lot of nice folks. but then, they show up to our place to see to a huge truck with an NRA sticker in the window, my big red neck husband, and my two huge GSD's...
;-)

that being said - our best neutral spot is the our church's parking lot before service. we have folks meet us there - we do the swap and off they drive. of course we put our big winnings in the collection plate

she can also use her cell phone instead of the house phone so no one does a reverse look up to see where she lives. and make sure she says 'cash only.'

I just placed 2 of my roos on craigslist, they got excellent PET homes where they will be able to free range and be happy. You get your goofy ones here and there, but for me, I can usually tell by the way the email is written. For example, I got an emails that said :

'Bird, yes?" I wrote back and said "yes, they are roosters" they wrote back and said "where bird, yes?" I wrote back and said that I had them here. Again an email that said "Bird, yes?" I didn't write back. I think it was someone messing with me....

But yes, you can find good homes on there.

Hi, I buy and sell many items from Craigslist and I have to say I've never met a bad apple yet. All of the people I've met have been warm and very kind individuals. However, I do recommend getting their pertinent info and meeting at a location away from the house. I gave away some free things and was worried when it came time for them to pick the items up at my house. But as usual they turned out to be great and the guy was also getting chickens the same time as us, funny coincidence! :–)

She may also want to try a livestock auction if there is one in your area. In southwestern CT, there is one, and from what I've heard, a lot of the Chinese restaurants go there to get chickens for their menu. I've never gone, as I'm a newbie and my 6 girls are only 17 weeks old, still not laying, but 17 weeks old.

It was just a thought/suggestion.

Hi there! I own a rabbitry & I sell on CRAIGSLIST from time to time. For the most part people are nice. But there is always the bad apple. This one guy got mad at me and called me in for having a old trailer on my property cause I wouldn't sell him a rabbit. (baby rabbit)

Loser ened up costing me over $5000 cuase I wouldn't sell him a $10 rabbit.

And the moral to my story is some people are mean............

If it were my grandmother (they are close in age) and she lived alone, even with shotguns in the house (which gives me an AWESOME mental picture- a little old lady holding a shotgun on her front patio saying " Go on...make my day!"), I'd be really, really reluctant to have them come to her home and make that transaction. As much as I want to give humanity the benefit of the doubt, there are a lot of evil people in the world and you just never know. If it was me selling or giving something away I'd probably have them come over (and have), but with an elderly woman, it wouldn't be hard for anyone to figure out when she is alone in the house. Just a thought.

ohiofarmgirl,
No she doesn't have on of the telephone tables but she sits in her rocker with the phone on a smaller table and just ROCKS AND ROCKS AND GOSSIPS AND GOSSIPS AND GOSSIPS SOME MORE.

And what you say is my fear.
When my uncle was alive he raised a few cattle, hogs and row crops and the shotguns were for the coyotes. They had chickens for the longest time running around the place and one day while they were gone a couple of feral dogs showed up a killed every single one. Like I mentioned in my first post it's been about 15 years (according to my aunt) since there "as been a chicken on the place".
I have not doubt she can use it, I've never seen her but according to her she's tagged the south end of a north bound yote from time to time.
My aunt is a hoot, the one thing my kids get a kick out of when they go with me and spend the night is in the morning when she's in the kitchen she has her shoulder length hair hanging down, no make up, no eye glasses then after breakfast off to her bedroom she goes and she comes with her hair up, little lipstick and rouge and eyeglasses.
My kids always comment. "it's like two different people".
