I have been trolling craigslist looking for a bedframe. Finally found one and talked to the man 3 times about the condition of the frame. It is a fake leather Ashely furniture item. He tells me the ONLY damage is an 8 inch rip in the felt on the back of the left leg on the headboard from the movers. Would not even be visible when against the wall. No other damage he says. Easy to fix if you are crafty...he says.

So I drive 40 minutes in to a questionable area in the city. I get there and he has it waiting on the porch. I look at it and the legs are covered with puncture marks top to bottom. The back of the head board is ripped open and the stuffing is falling out. The part of the headboard that would be near the mattress is ripped to shreds.

Yep, you guessed it. The movers must have been of the 4 legged feline kind. This thing was not repairable. And he denied owning cats. He maintained his story that the movers did the damage.

He was not pleased when I left the bed with him. I was not pleased with my almost 1 1/2 hour trip for nothing.

Craigslist has its place in the marketplace, as well as it scammers.

Be careful out there. Thanks for listening.

I agree. You have to be careful. Sorry your time was wasted, but at least your money isn't gone too.

Oh my, i have my own craigslist nightmares, but won't go into them. You were smart to walk away. Many times people feel pressured into things when face to face. Sorry you had to experience that.

Ok. I don't see the point in lying like that. Who in their right mind would buy a bed frame that was all torn up?! Plus, they're just going to be angry when they do see it, and there are some pretty strange people out there, so why take a chance? I always describe my stuff as well as I can, plus I post pictures. If I'm looking at something I want to see pics of the actual item before I take the time and $ to go see it. Sorry for your bad experience! That guy was totally ignorant.

I will now be very skeptical of anyone who does not post an actual picture of the item. Or post a "store picture" instead of the one they actually own.
