craigslist rant

Remember that Craig's List is read by all kinds of people with all kinds of ideas and personal agendas. It only takes one person with their own agenda to block your ad. Just reword it and keep putting it on there. Sadly, there are a lot of people who have no power or control in their own lives who abuse the power they have to anonymously control you by flagging your ad. There is nothing wrong with a reasonable rehoming fee, almost everybody has one. Whether pet dogs should be bred or not is an issue that should not be settled on CL. Don't get into that debate. Do check out your buyers as you indicated you would. Don't take the flagging personally.....whoever is doing it doesn't even know you.

Whether or not a dog owner wants to spay/neuter his or her dog is a decision that is completely up to them. It is not required and dog owner's who don't spay/neuter are not always irresponsible pet owners. A person can choose to leave their animal intact and have it lead a perfectly normal, safe life without over populating the world in puppies.

I chose not to neuter my dog. I brought home an AKC registered Pembroke Welsh Corgi puppy last spring from a very reputable breeder. I decided to buy this dog for the very genes that he carries, why on earth would I neuter him and take away part of my very reason for purchasing him? No his genetics aren't the only reason I wanted my Corgi, he's adorable and affectionate and probably one of the smartest dogs I've met, but it's MY decision whether or not I want him to be neutered or not.

Folks are quick to jump the gun on this issue, if you don't spay or neuter you're a TERRIBLE HORRIBLE ATROCIOUS dog owner, which in all honestly IS NOT true. So back off all of you out there who simply are out their trying to preach your own rhetoric.

*steps down off his soap box*.

Im not sure where "having no power or control in their own lives" comes into play? There are guidelines to posting for pet "re-homings" specifically stating, no breeders or sales.... Personal agendas would have nothing to do with flagging a breeders add. You want people to pay for a puppy that you brought into this world, yet your not willing to pay for a newspaper add, because you don't want to follow the rules?

in response to UrbanFarmBoi, your totally correct its up to you to spay and neuter... that was not the statement being discussed here. It was the use of craigslist as an outlet for the sale of puppies from an unfixed dog. Not the unfixed dog itself.

The OP was asking about why her ad might have been flagged. I doubt that they were looking for a lecture on spaying and neutering. Please lets get back on topic and give suggestions on how they might reword the ad to find these little fellas some good homes.

I think its a good idea to list 'puppy' and then when they call tell them that there are a couple to choose from. *and dont forget you can list them here in the 'other' section of BYC's Buy/Sell/Trade*

Sorry, you are DEAD WRONG. The world is already overpopulated with puppies, or I wouldn't have assisted in thousands of puppy euthanasias when I worked at the shelter. Only 1 in 10 puppies get adopted. 1 in 20 dogs gets adopted. I'm not against controlled breeding, just irresponsible, to lazy to spay & neuter breeding. Now.........back to the Craigslist topic.

Folks, spay/neuter is NOT the subject here. Stay on topic, please!

In my experience, there are folks who sit around and do nothing but flag ads for the pleasure of controlling someone else.

Forget Craigslist.

Here are places you can run ads for free, and sell you dogs for whatever price you want. Others who know of sites, feel free to post them to help her get her puppies re-homed.

ebayclassifieds.com
hoobly.com
pennysaverusa.com

There are others, but I can't think of them right now.

Craigslist, don't mention AKC. You MUST state the age of the puppies. You can't adopt out any puppies younger than 8 weeks. Keep your adoption fee under a hundred. That varies by area. It is just what the local people feel is fair. Or don't list the adoption fee, just say small rehoming fee required. Some areas you can sell for more, some areas just flag you even for $30 or so... Just keep reposting your ad. Take different looking pictures each time, so someone won't recognize the pics right off the bat. use a different phone number or emLail. Don't give any sad details about what happened.

So.... place your ad.

Large Shepherd Mix Puppies, 8 weeks. (Your town)

Born June whatever, there are four left three boys, one girl. Small rehoming fee applies. They are mostly German Shepherd. Photo of parents, below. Up to date on shots and worming. They are weaned already, healthy and ready to go to their new homes. Please call for appointment to come see them. They are CUTE!
(XXX) xXX-XXXX

That is all I would say.

I have put alot of my on money into the puppies..they have been wormed, they need to be fed (they like eating puppy chow), and they need lots of attention...so i put money and time into the puppies and feeding the moher (she eats ALOT now)...plus i love them and i really really really want them to find good homes...and if someone cant even afford a rehoming fee of $75 then you shouldnt be getting a dog...

You should not have bred her in the first place!!!!

It was an accidental breeding...trust me I didn't want the puppies

Don't take being flagged personally. I think flagging just makes people feel powerful (how sad) When a lady on my street passed away, I placed a ad for her poodle. I made it very clear the owner died, sweet young dog ,up to date on all shots. I said dogs full medical records would be sent to new vet. The ad was flagged twice!
