Crap, How do I get rid of lice??????

my birds have had lice and using the dust bathe eliminated them and they did indeed continue to dust bathe. All are healthy and happy now and wood ash is all I use in the winter.

IMO, wood ash might be a good preventive, but with a severe infestation they are unlikely to dust bathe. When this happens, prompt treatment with a product labeled to treat lice or mites is needed or there is a chance they could die.

Use a pyrethrin-based insecticide for sever infestations. There was nothing wrong with the replies in this thread and no one was being rude. Lice cause anemia if left untreated for too long in sever infestations and cause lethargy that would prevent dust bathing. Wood ash is a great preventative and for non sever infestations. I’ve seen goats sucked dry by lice.
