Crappy pet store in town, animal control doesn't care, What to do?!!!

I'm not sure this is still true - but at one time here in Nebraska - pet stores were regulated by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. I know because I went through something very similar to what you've described in your post. It was straightened out and improvements were made. It took patience, understanding and a little educating - but it worked. Be resectful - it'll get you a long way.

Under the law those animals need to be cared for properly. If there are dead mice and rabbits sitting in there own waste then they are breaking the law. No two ways about it. Try to find a list of laws and regulations for keeping animals for your state (some places differ) and show the Animal control group that this pet store is breaking these laws.

I am not familiar with cockateil nesting practices, but in some species of birds, the parents take turns. In others, one parent does it all.

Make SURE you video tape the filth (on the sly), with a small camera. You will need documented proof.

I am going to, I only have a camera to get pics and video with. I wish I had a phone that did it, I m not sure how to take pics with out them noticing
