Crayon On Eggs

Hey BYC community!
I've started using Crayon to write the dates on my Eggs. I was wondering if I could still feed the eggshells to the girls. Would I have to wash off the Crayon before I bake them?

Hi there!

I use pencil.. but crayon.. are supposed to be non toxic (kids eat them). I've also used sharpie. I probably wouldn't worry about washing it off.. but always use YOUR best judgement.

Baking not required.. though I do let them dry out prior to lightly crushing, just to prevent any mold growth.

I never thought about crayon. Good idea. I just ordered some grease pencils, which should be similar.

Also good to know no need to bake egg shells, since I haven't been!

I have food-safe pens and an ink pad I got off Amazon. They're pretty cheap and work well.
