LOL!! Yep!! Beautiful birds -- can't help myself when it comes to lav.

I promise not to start a bidding war again. lol. Although they are quite adorable. But I need to stick with the projects I have. Unless someone comes on with a large fowl chocolate set of eggs, which is highly doubtful. I do love lavender and blue eggs are so pretty but I am sure someone else will see this and considering how high they are going in the auctions. Good luck!

I'm not in love with the idea, but something about cracking thoise pretty eggs makes me feel terrible. I told myself I'd concentrate on the Cochins this year, so someone should enjoy these little fluffy butts.

If my bator wasn't full, I would have to jump in on these. Hope you will have some more in about 3 weeks. Congrats to the person that wins these and gets to hatch them out. I am jealous already

Well I am sure hoping I can enjoy them - I have worked on my lav cochin for a few years now and got them going strong.

You're funny! Have you seen Tom Roebuck's lav bantam cochin thread? Just be sure to call them Self-blues!!!!

These birds have wonderful temperments. They are much calmer than their Black/Blue counterparts. Real snuggle bunnies. Though it is advisable to cross them to black to improve type and egg color/size. I just hope to keep the calmer temprements.

Shelley, I would also recommend that you replace your rooster, He will cast forward mossiness (you can tell by ear lob coloration on this one as well as color of beak.. and also some wheaten as seen in ear lobes as well. as you pick and choose from your flock, I would put any wheaten out for sale....They are sport wheatens and don't meet true wheaten confirmation. This is a problem with several lines of BCM's. So those of us that are dedicated and I know you are to the minding of their flock and trying to breed pure line birds.....very hard with black copper marans will move any babies away from brooder pens that have trait issues, white feathering, too scanty, too much feathering etc. etc. It's tricky...Oh my...I know I've been working with them for about 5 years..... It's wild....Colorations as Bev has said are best at beginning of cycle of paint, unfortunately these may not last until last of the paint cycle and an 8 or 9 can slip below the "approved minimum"..... Love these birds but I'm charting observing and relocating.... Great successes.
