had no idea she was broody but good to hear this is something that can go away - I am pretty set with 5 hens right now so don't really want her to hatch any - when our 2 chihuahua's come near her she is trying to corner them - she doesn't do this to the other hens - I think she might think she is the dogs MOMMA! yikes!

If you give a broody hen a few already hatched chicks will she raise them???

Usually, yes, but you need to wait till close to the time hers would hatch, about three weeks. I'd say you could give them to her at night anytime after two weeks of broodiness. If you don't want chicks, eventually she should just give up after having no eggs, but sometimes, they are so over-the-edge that you have to discourage her sitting by always removing her from the nest when you see her, etc.
