We have a breeding pair of Emu, they are about six months old. They stay with our male Pyrenees and out dairy goats. Well, On Tuesday the vet came out to do boosters and annual CEA testing. I left the gate open and our pair walked out into the yard (they had never been out before)! I did everything I could to turn them back and the harder I tried the further away they went! We have a large property that ends on a river, the river is about a mile from our house. The last time I saw them on Tuesday they were half way to the river 1/2 mile from home, then I lost them. I have rode that path everyday hoping to see them. I gave up after reading how they would NOT come back. I got a text from my wife this morning with a picture of them sitting in the pen eating! I am blown away and very happy to have them back!! She said they walked back into the yard, she walked out to greet them and speak with them calling them by name (Romeo and Juliet) said they were hungry so she walked into the pen put food out and they walked in sat down and ate!! Just wanted to share because everything I had read told me they would NOT be back!!
