Hi guys,
So we have just been able to successfully rehome our gorgeous 2 cockerels. The two cockerels were raised with Browny my Isa Brown from birth so they were a lovely contented flock. Absolutely gorgeous together. We also have 3 silkies but they stick to themselves. Browny is a gentle sweet girl, lower down on the pecking order, so I have no idea where to go from here. Do I introduce new hens quickly? Older, younger, same age? Browny is around 5 months old and not yet laying. Will she likely become the new top of the pecking order? Thanks in advance ! :)

More than likely she will be odd bird out if you add any new birds. She won't necessarily bond with them as they usually bond with those they grow up with.

What you add is a personal decision based on what you want, and why you are keeping chickens. Older birds can bring in diseases, so I personally only get hatchery chicks or hatch chicks.

Integrating young birds together doesn't always go easy.

I was thinking chicks too. Will browny likely take on these chicks like a mother or is she too young yet? As I said she hasn’t started laying yet ...

If you wait until your silkies are adults they will more than likely mother or hatch anything.
