We have a Wyandotte hen that makes the funniest sounds I've ever heard come out of a chicken. She sounds like an insane clown laughing. I was just curious, is this a characteristic of the breed?

Our Wyandotte doesn't do that, but she is a little... touched... so it may be characteristic of the breed- but I kind of doubt it.

We started with 4 Wyandottes (1 each White, Golden, Silver, and Columbian). None of them laugh. In fact, all of them are pretty quiet. But, there are differences in their normal noises. Our Silver Laced died last autumn.

The Silver chattered like she was arguing a point in a debate.

The Golden sounds like she is whining because she can't get her own way or is unhappy about something.

The Columbian is the shy quiet girl who politely says "Excuse me, may I say something?".

The White says "oooohhhhh" like in a kid saying.. "oooohhhh, I'm telling!"

All of ours are extremely gentle. And our White loves to sit on anyone's lap

My bantam barred rock rooster, Fabio, makes laughing sounds a lot, and then he'll chatter at us and you just know he's cursing our entire family when we pick up one of the girls. And my standard cochin hen makes this long low bawk that sounds like she's getting ready to murder you when you hold her
