I have purchased a pair of Mandarin ducks. They are flighty birds to begin with but to make matters worse they were hatched at a large hatchery and not hand tamed for several months. When I received them they were wild. I had them in a large aviary built especially for them. I recently moved them into a smaller pen so they could get used to me working with them. They are still wild. You can't get close to the pen without them flying. They have actually injured themselves more than once. I have tried giving them Rescue Remedy but that did not phase them. Does anyone have any advice for medicine that I could give them to help them calm down? Our goal is to be able to show them. Thank you.

Hi!

I generally spend time over on the duck forum. Saw your post, here, and I think you might find some other Mandarin folks on this forum.

I saw that there is a Mandarin thread on that forum, or perhaps you could post your questions in a separate thread. Those are beautiful animals. I hope you can find the strategy that will help them calm down.
