I would have taken it to look but I am impatient. You can either leave it and let nature take its course, or remove it and prepare to assist, make the external pip. What do you have to lose, it might die either way but it would be a learning experience. I can’t do assisted hatch, I suck at it.
I switched eggs with 2 day old chickens last weekend on day 21 to get her to stop sitting on eggs. She has been sitting for 2 months and did not hatch any eggs just kept trying. she accepted all of them. I have her first two chickens hatched in the incubator this weekend and I slipped one under her this evening but she did not accept it. It is day 30 today and there are still 2 eggs left. It could be a different colour, or that the baby is half the size of the 9 day old chickens. But she did not have an issue with me removing eggs and putting chickens one at a time under her.
