I bought some eggs on ebay and the seller is repeatedly contated me asking for feedback. The last time they kind of threatened me more or less. I say more or less because they cant leave negatives... and at any rate my feedback is about 900 with 100% positive and theirs is under 100 and about 97%. But anyway they are of little threat to me but it was a nasty letter.

I buy and sell on ebay so I am well aware of the issues with ebay.
I do understand how people are waiting till their eggs hatch then holding it over the sellers head. I didn't plan on doing that but since they have been so pushy and hostile I have serious reservations. As if they are looking to make sure they can say to you " too bad so sad" when your eggs don't hatch because they know they are crappy.

But at any rate very seldom to I get feedback right away from buyers if at all. I leave that up to them. I always leave feedback but usually I will do a bunch at once. The last negative I left was probably 5 years ago, and that was only because it was a gross misrepresentation and he had no contact after the sale.......That was back in the day when sellers could sell you crap and hold their feedback over your head. He did leave me a negative back btw...He is part of the reason ebay changed its policy. I am actually glad that ebay did change that.

I am usually pretty busy so I dont jump on the computer log in and leave feedback as soon as a package arrives.

I would send them a nice email back stating that once you verify that the eggs are in fact viable you will then leave feedback. Might also mention that their badgering and threatening is not helping their feedback any!!!

I think they need an attitude change. They should appreciate the fact that you bought their product and paid. Take your time and do what is right for you. Hope the chicks hatch and are healthy.

I thought when you bought eggs on ebay you were leaving feedback based on shipping and receiving properly and not on hatching since the hatch rate has so many variables.

When I sell eggs,I will leave feed back as soon as I get their feed back.
When I Buy eggs or anything I leave feed back after I get the item....
I don't bother anyone to leave me feed back nor do I send reminders.

Well I emailed her back. Told them basically didnt appreciated the harrasment. They appologized. I left feedback. Good feedback with 5 stars. Apparently because their feedback was low paypal was holding payment.

I do get a little annoyed by the egg sellers silver bullet of its hatching variables. They are still selling a product and that product is supposed to produce chicks. Posting that a 50% hatch rate for shipped eggs is fine. But to wright them off if none of them hatch because of "hatching variables" isn't very good buisness. All you are going to do is convince a few suckers that they got what they paid for. For example repeat buyers are going to remember that you shipped them some more eggs for just the cost of shipping and more then likelythey will come back. But maybe you already know this.

With that being said I dont think ebay is the best place to be selling eggs. For one... look at the feedback of some of the sellers of eggs. not sure how much of this is even the sellers fault. Not all buyers are completely honest, and not all sellers are completely honest either. Most people know this and it sets up a feelling of distrust between the 2. You can scream out loud about hatching variables but its not going to be much consolation for the guy who bought 30 eggs and none hatched. Not to mention first timers are going to more then likely be ebay purchasers because they are unfamiliar with other egg suppliers. So I guess its a if you cant take the heat... get out of the fire kinda scenario.

Well handled.

I find it annoying when people ask for feedback. I don't visit Ebay daily, or even weekly. There have been a couple times I haven't left any feedback on purpose. The item(s) weren't worthy of positive feedback and not negative quality. . .
I also leave feedback in bunches. I had forgotten about Paypal holding money from new sellers. Do they hold onto the shipping amount as well?

And that (what I put into bold type)goes both ways.

Shipped eggs are a gamble....no way around that. It's a fact that once they leave the seller's hands there are many variables that can occur during shipping and hatching that a seller has no control over.

I don't sell on ebay...only on here occasionally. When I'm selling eggs I am continually hatching from the same group of hens so I know fertility is good. I can be getting 100% hatches here at home but those I've shipped (and I do pack well) don't do nearly as well.

I've never expected or requested replacement eggs as a buyer because I'm well aware of the risks...nor do I offer them as a seller because of the variables that I have nothing to do with.
