Hello! I have a standard bronze aka bronze heritage turkey as well as a few different breeds of chickens. The turkey has within the last week started following me everywhere I go in our yard. I'm wondering if she has imprinted on me. I honestly thought she would've done this sooner and her behavior just has me puzzled. It's not a problem just wondering why she's just out of nowhere started doing everything she can to be right up under me and only me not my 4 yr old or my husband. when we come back inside she goes right back to hanging out with the chickens. any ideas?

Hi and Welcome! I don't have any experience with turkeys but if their behavior is anything like chickens maybe she is looking at her humans as the dominant ones of the flock and is going to you for protection and attention. Or maybe she is just expecting treats. Is she the only turkey in the flock?

I've heard that turkeys can be very affectionate and follow their humans around, so she may not be crazy. I do wonder if she would fit in with any additional turkeys because of this.

yes she is the only turkey we have left out of 4. We're planning on adding a few more it was just dead winter when we lost the last one to a neighbors dog. we are revamping our coop and adding safer areas for them to hang out in at night. she's not a problem actually the polar opposite. I love the fact that she's so loving :) I had a buff hen that was attached to me when I was younger. My husband says I will ruin any animal meaning I turn anything into a clingy baby lol!! thank you all for your responses and warm welcome!!

I've read that turkeys make good pets. I really want one but I refuse to bring any males into my flock and don't want to run the risk.
