CRD no more 4-h

OK now I am worried, I pick up my 25 show chicks for 4H on wednesday that my granddaughter is to show in september. We had to buy them as a group from one supplier. Should I keep them isolated from the area of my other chickens that are in a tractor and run but also free range 5 hours a day in two times , morning and evening.

If they are one day olds coming from a major hatchery, I would not worry about it as far as the new chicks infecting your existing flock. Hatchery chicks from Ideal, McMurray, Cackle, and such are about as safe as you can get. There is always the chance your existing flock will infect the new birds, but I don't know any realistic way around that. Eventually they are going to mingle.

If they are chickens coming from another source, I think you should consider quarantine.
