hello ! today i found my legbar hen in the coop hot and panting so i tried to cool her but i noticed that she wasn’t really lifting her head, so i brought her inside and gave her vitamins and electrolytes and she was able to move around but every time she’d lift her head to look around it’d slowly go back down. She’s about 3 months and we do have other hens who do peck at them ( we have other teen chicks ) but it’s only ever when they’re eating or getting ready to sleep on the roosting bars. Any advice would be greatly appreciated thank you !

could you send pics it could be neck trauma or wryneck or malnourishment
this is the best i could take since she laying mostly. we’re thinking it’s most likely neck trauma from the older hens

Welcome To BYC

I'd make sure she's eating/drinking.

Start her on vitamin therapy of 400IU Vitamin E along with 1/4 tablet B-Complex. Give a little egg daily to help with the uptake of E.

She may have suffered trauma to the head. It looks like she's crested, so sometimes a good peck to the head can cause some neurological problems.

If possible, I'd cage her within the coop/run with her own food/water so she's near the flock. But you may need to take her aside a few times a day to hand feed her.

Thank you ! Fortunately she is eating and drinking and we currently have her inside away from the flock. Would i be giving her the vitamin e and b complex once a day ?
