Hello fellow chicken folk!

Some nice lady in a nearby town has offered me her 8 month old Cream Legbar rooster for free. I have been looking for a pure CL so I am thrilled! I am just hoping for some feedback from anyone who knows a thing or two about CL. Here is a picture of him she has sent me. She has had him since small chick and i guess breeder "threw him in as an extra" and she never really wanted a rooster, so that is why she is giving him to me. Before i pick him up- I wanted to know if there is anything I should look out for, or if anyone sees any defects that are obvious. I will breed him with my backyard flock of EE and others.

I don’t know about breed standard, but he looks super healthy, and that can mean a lot more. My main roo is a CCL/Marans mix, and he is wonderful. Never aggressive, always watching his girls and showing them treats. I have had some pure CCL chicks from eggs that have hatched, and they have not been as nice, but it is always harder when they are vying for the top spot. Here is a pic of my stud, Rusty Shackleford. Pardon the poor picture, they were watching me do laundry in the basement, apparently.

@dheltzel raises CCLS, and may be able to chime in here.

Ok, thanks. Yes, Im pretty excited! We get him tomorrow!! Ill post back and let you know how he gets along. I guess Ill keep him separated for a couple of weeks.
Your birds are too funny watching you do laundry! HA!

Nice bird... Depends on your goals as to whether to breed him or not.

Back line is good.. Ear lobes perfect...comb too much towards the front... No crest... Funny stance.. Color hackles good.. Saddle not so good .....breast/keel lacking..tail good,,,,

And of course , a different stance might make him look totally different... Join the creamlegbarclub,,,look at pictures there to get ideas

Thanks for the input! I just wanted his double blue egg gene so i can breed him with a couple of my hens (one lays a nice blue egg-no green in it at all, and a nice shade... and one lays a nice dark brown egg) thought I could get eggs bluer and olive green.
However, the lady who gave him to me this morning, also gave me 5 fertilized eggs (she has CL hens, (and never wanted the rooster) --the eggs are green!!!! So .... I dont know what to think? Thoughts? I dont have an incubator, so i may just scramble them up and give to the rooster ....but does that mean that her CL are not "pure"?

I don't know much about Standards but I have a two week old CCL boy at the moment and if he grows up to look like that one, I will be absolutely chuffed to bits!!! Lucky you!

thanks!! just picked him up an hour ago. He is tall and lean compared to my fat hens!! LOL
He looks just like his "online pic" but looks like he may have a touch of frostbite on his comb tips? Sort of a black tinge color??? is that frostbite?
