Cream Legbar Working Group: Standard of Perfection

the recessive cream gene is an "Autosomal" gene, not Sex linked at all, Punnett was mistaken at the time

yeah that was me..

Punnett at the time believed that Cream, Silver and Gold were allelic to each other, but then he receives info from Mr. M. S. Pease that is was no longer the case, he mentions this but its on a very small print, so most people just skip this info.

here, have another read(Click on it)

Thanks guys.... I do remember now.

Did that explain his theory about -- never mind..... Looking forward to hearing more on this in the spring...and kind of wondering why if there is no sex linkage, then why was he figuring - or theorizing about the greater incidence in females of cream? No -- don't start now---save it for spring. Thanks.

BTW Happy Christmas and New Years to everyone one and all everyone everywhere...... Can you believe it's 10-days away?

HI.. hope all are doing good.... Thought I would post this for all those interested in Cream Legbars....

Thanks for the link! We've been finding all kinds of amazing information the last few months, and I love the way Pease wrote (Prose instead of scientific paper style, I can understand it)! Do you have Cream Legbars Keith? If so, have you joined the Cream Legbar Club yet?

the Only reason a Female looks more cream and the males look more silverish or very light cream, its because of the double dose effect of sex linked barring, tow copies of sex linked barring will lighten the ground color too, so you have cream and doulbe dose of barring doing the same thing, diluting pheomelanin on these birds, females can only have one copy of sex linked barring, they are only diluted by cream,

I finally figured that out this morning and was going to ask for verification here. Great timing!

I'm so sorry! I've never had the pleasure of mites in my flock, but I understand that it can really take a bird down very quickly. It would have to be your favorite, too. :(
It ALWAYS seems to work that way!
Not Vanilla Ice! What did you dust with?
I used Permethrin.
Oh so very sorry to hear this. What a heart breaker....I wish that chickens weren't so vulnerable. Sad news.
Thank you. One of the two pullets I got with him is acting bad now too.

I gave her a shot of Tylan yesterday-is there something else I should be doing?

Do you have wood ash and Nustock? I would thoroughly dust the pullet with the sifted wood ash (use the dust and small particles), and lightly spread Nustock on her beak, comb, legs and anywhere there might be mite egg clumps (ie. vent and under wings areas). My Blue was scratching when I first got him, but I had wood ash available for him to dust in...I wonder if it saved him? I just redusted my pair this weekend, and started them on pumpkin seed for possible worm overload, because his comb was getting pale. After one Nustock application his comb is getting redder and less dry/looks like the tips are going to fall off looking. WooHoo!
My GH thinks I pamper them too much lol, but I also scrubbed down their roosts and sprayed all the wood with vinegar mixed with lemon and bergamot EO. My Deep Litter is only a month old but hopefully it will soon be active enough to take care of anything else that comes their way.
Also, have you considered fermented feed?

You're a Beekissed follower too?

I don't have wood ash-I do have some scraps of wood I am going to go burn up to get some. I have been feeding fermented feed, but quit that when the weather got too cold because it was taking too long to ferment. Even in my (unheated) basement, it was taking 3 or 4 days to get a good ferment going.
I cannot find Nustock near me.
