Cream Legbar Working Group: Standard of Perfection

Hi Bargain. I also have Whites
big_smile.png
Here is what they look like when older

I am mainly working with the Whites myself but I also have Creams. I will be crossing them soon to the new lines of Cream and then breeding back to White. I love them and mine lay a very pretty blue color egg, sky blue actually.

Your above picture does look to be all girls. I found not only do the boys have the dot on the head but they seem to be a creamier tan color while the girls are more yellowish. See if you can pick out the boy in this photo...

I would love to see more people breeding the Whites
(or Diamond Legbars as I like to call them

If anyone is looking for a new roo I have 5 Cream boys that I hatched out about a month ago that I need to find a home for.

I was going to grow them out to see the end results because they all hatched in varying shades but honestly I need the room and I want to add the new line. Some of them might be carrying the recessive white gene.

Those are lovely ones. Will see how my little ones grow and be in tune with this dialogue as well. Thanks for all the information and help. Glad I have a turn to group! Thank you and God bless you all.

hello, I just found this thread a couple days ago and have enjoyed reading the posts. I am looking forward to learning as much about the Cream Legbar as possible, and will hopefully be able to get a flock of them in the next year. Keep up the excellent work!

Shyla-C,
Thanks for stopping by.
There are several good CL posts at BYC and a newly formed CL club! Speaking of having several posts, how would folks feel if we discontinue one or two of these, either this one and/or cream legbar club--WWIT?
Asking because a cream legbar club has formed and is moving ahead on "club" type things and because a draft proposal for Am. SOP was largely created through this site by modeling it after the British Poultry Standard. Where is the draft? Sitting, waiting for some spit and shine and final love. Where will the draft go, to the cream legbar club.
Sure we can post it here, once the club is happy with it, if folks like. I just would like some feedback for those that are largely BYC folks. To avoid duplication, I wonder if it's useful to have The Legbar Thread! as the main BYC site. To me, neither of these sites, CLWG: SOP or Cream Legbar Club --WWIT, are as active as they once were and may have reached their end use point, ie. they don't offer a different discussion than The Legbar Thread! or do they?
Seeking your feedback.
Thanks!

I've been reading all of them and each thread seems to have its own character. Any thread may peter out on its own once its run its life-expectancy.

This thread may have staying power once a standard it approved as people would come here to post pictures of their chickens for others to comment on how they rate against the standard, vs joys and concerns about raising Legbars. I personally wouldn't lock it. I think its handy to have several threads concentrating on different areas of the same breed. I have given up reading some breed threads because they get too cumbersome wading though looking for specific information. It might be good to make sure the titles match the content though.

I agree it is getting hard to keep up with it all. I suggest we keep as the main thread for discussing Cream Legbars this one: https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/509483/cream-legbars

My understanding was The Legbar Thread was for all Legbars- cream, gold, and silver, although much more talk has gone on about the cream there. This one I don't think should be closed but discussions will drift off now that a proposed SOP is created. The WWIT- Cream Legbar Club has also run it's course, if you want further discussion about the club join the club and go visit the clubhouse!

Does this work for everyone?

The Legbar Thread! has over 360 pages and the Cream Legbars thread you had linked to only has 60 pages -- they were created within 2 months of each other.

I am not sure it makes sense to close the thread that has 6 times as many pages as the one that is kept open. Perhaps a differentiation between the two, like Cream Legbars for breeding/hatching/improving the breed and The Legbar Thread! for telling stories about their Legbar chickens?

Not sure how to work it out but I think there is enough activity and interest for both, at least for the time being.
