Cream Legbar Working Group: Standard of Perfection

from babies to birds lol

and now to start on the marans and swedish flowers but that is all 3 lines so lets start laying some eggs now well not yet i have to get my breeding pens built for theses and the marans the swedish flowers i will just let them all stay together i think but i have to have 4 marans line breeding pens and then 3 maybe 4 for the legbars plus a roo"s place lol

It's fun to have them getting so big! If you are going to set up breeding pens think carefully about the pairings as I see a LOT of incorrect gold hackles versus the correct cream. If done carefully it is possible to breed them back to cream.

Hello! This is my first ever post on BYC; I joined 2 days ago. I have ordered 6 Cream Legbar chicks from Greenfire to start my flock but don't know when I will be able to OK the shipping due to the extreme heat wave here in Central CA. I would like to learn about this breed and be a part of this group.

Welcome! Glad to have you here. If you are interested you can follow the link in my signature line and join up for the Cream Legbar Club to keep ahead of the information! Lots of good folks in this thread, they will answer all your questions!

If you haven't found it already, the Cream Legbar thread has some great information as well. They are funny, curious birds and I am enjoying my 3 immensely - as well as learning (and planning) for what I should breed for if we ever move!

For now, I just learn what I can and wait for eggs from my city chickens!

Hope this heat wave snaps soon.

Very nice boy Steen! Can't wait to see him all grown up!
Thank you lonnyandrinda. Its been a rough time trying to isolate some cream. I really hope the color doesn't come in to much. I have some showing rusty color and yellowish gold in the hackles as well as a black breasted pullet showing some weird neck hackles. they are posted on the cream legbar thread. this guy is my main hopes for cream right now.

Question about your group photo... the golden pencil marked chickens... what are they? They look just like my juvenile gold Partridge Brahma hens!
