Cream Legbar Working Group: Standard of Perfection

Quote:
Double Barring will Dilute a gold only male's hackle to a straw color, that is if the bird is not enhanced... example Henk's Crele Dutch Bantam(lacking cream and red enhancers)
and to point out how strong is double barring on gold, here is Henks single barring progeny of that homozygous male crossed to gold dutch female Henk's single barred Crele males(only one copy of the sex linked barring gene)

I seriously doubt that any body has done this on purpose, as easy as it may sound(at least to me) the vast majority of legbar breeders lack genetic background to pull this off just to show that this could be possible, the following wyandotte is a "Silver" Crele project bird, clearly showing autosomal red(or other red enahancers) while this male would be concidered faulty by Silver crele standards(which called for a clear/clean silver crele, not chestnut showing) it gives us a feel on how a Silver Crele with red enhancers would look(looks like Cream without much red enahcers to me).. if anybody is willing to pull this off you can always P.M me, I am only showing for educational purposes I dont intend to polute this thread with this project.

Thank you for the corrections Mr. M. So if the silver bird above were bred to a gold hen, would the offspring look like him? If so, then the test still holds true for testing your bird for gold or silver ( as Tru was writing about).

To reiterate, if the test holds true, A silver crele rooster with red enhancers would produce silver or cream (like the photo above) looking offspring when bred to a gold hen.
A cream rooster (ig/ig) with or without red enhancers would produce all gold looking offspring when bred to a gold hen.

well the Silver gene is not completey dominant once the cockerels mature(they are S/s+) they will show a richer cream(not as pale) but before puberty they would look Silver, the Females would be 100% Silver

Yes,

Yes, sir. ;) It's just how we talk in these here parts. I've been called Ma'am since I was a teenager. No disrespect intended :D

You youngsters. I'm still shocked every time I realize I'm old. Like when someone asks me how old my kids are. I usually say, "18 and 21 . . . but I swear they were born yesterday!"

(For you young'uns, by "18 and 21" I mean years, not months.)

Chicken content: Mine are finally so sick of being cooped up that they're starting to pick on each other. And today's forecast is for freezing rain, snow, and high winds. . . . They are free to go outside, but won't.
