Cream Legbar Working Group: Standard of Perfection

My source on the headspots in females is the British Poultry Standards, sixth edition, edited by Victoria Roberts. Blackwell Publishing, in association with the Poultry Club of Great Britain. Subtitle is Complete specifications and judging points of all standardized breeds and variety of poultry as compiled by the specialist Breed Clubs and recognised by the Poultry Club of Great Britain.

The adult standards were copied from a website via others. I'm thinking that this is still a good site for comments, but that we need a site for documents and photos. What do others think? I'm starting to have a bear of a time going back to find information, but I like that the thinking process is here. I want to comment on more recent posts, but today is very busy.
do you have a link or a scan of said stardard?

This is where I found it -

Click on the photo of the book to look inside. Type "legbar" to search inside. It's on page 55.
thanks for the link, nice link by the way , I will be expending many hours learning from it, but backt at why would you breed from females chicks with a headspot? it just does not make any autoexing sense, why? because heterozygous males also look like females with a headspot, so if I were you I would breed only from the none headspot hens, its going to make your life easier

Does it make anyone else nervous that the UK down standard would list females with a clearly defined light headspot? Please feel free to correct me, but wouldn't that eventually wipe out the autosexing function? and make the females dark if the only way to tell them apart is light=male, dark =female?

not quite, but at this stage(where you are getting dark and light males) it will make your life a mess, having a hard time distinguishing dark males(heterozygous barring) with females with a headspot...

other "Autosexing" breeds like the Golden/Silver Cuckoo Marans(based on ER/ER) use this same method.

But having the chance to purify and enhance the autosexing ability of this breed is on your hands now, you are obtaining females without headspots, use them, see if you can pin down this trait

Hi all and redchicken9 -- I was just quoting there....I didn't set up Yahoo groups, but keeping track of documents and the various versions will be helpful as we go forward.

Walt--thanks for being our guiding light. Has the APA meeting already occurred? It is difficult to find what was back there somewhere in the thread. today or tomorrow I will do some re-reading too and see what things need to be brought forward.

Thanks to one and all for all the good ideas and contributions!!

Nicalandia, I thought ChicKat was saying she was starting a thread on Yahoo to build a place for documents. I quoted her back saying problem solved, ie. problem of putting documents somewhere. Then she responded me saying the above. Too crazy. The genetics is not my best area, so I've been completely delighted to have everyone's input, of course, yours included!
