I try to limit myself to 2 breeds of interest, and have 2 coop/pens to keep them in. It makes it easier that the CL's lay blue eggs, as the roosters can run with the laying flock as well (they all lay brown/cream eggs, so I can save eggs if I want) and pen 2 has the Swedish Flower Hens ( future breeding project, they are all young) and my 2 silkies. I have found that you can keep a few roosters together, as long as they have grown up together, are healthy, and there is plenty of space. First sign of trouble, though, and they have to be kept apart.
