Cream Legbars

We have been having a recent discussion on the "alternative" Legbar thread, noting if there are possibly enough differences in our Cream Legbars to start a proposed SOP for a more colorful variety. Well in those discussion things have come up that also apply to just our Cream in color Cream Legbars and how the SOP is quite vague in some areas. One of those areas being the females crest. We have seen many pictures over time here in these threads on BYC and the females tend to have a few different colored crests, some cream in color, some lighter gray, some darker gray, some solid colored, some with edging on the feathers, some bars or even ticking. I thought it might be nice to get others opinions on how they interpret that section of the SOP, what they might be seeing amongst their females in their own flocks and what they are wanting to see in their females. Also opinions on if crest color is that big of a deal, or if a crest that shows some degree of cream and gray will do.

Here is the female crest section of the SOP
Crest: Cream and gray, some chestnut permissible

I took some pictures of some of the females in my CL flocks. Im not sure if this is 100% what I will breed towards as I still have a lot of breeding test mating experimenting to do before I have a better idea. Some of the pullets pictured are culls and will join my layer flock.

These 2 pics remind me a lot of my little girl

Hi, BYC friends! I've been enjoying this thread, viewing the photos of your pretty Cream Legbars for awhile now.

I hatched some Cream Legbars last weekend. I sold them all except one male...and I am keeping him.

His name is Lannister, and he is such a little terd. He's always pushing the other chicks away from the food bowl and pecking their beaks if there is food on them. I try, in my best Chickenese, to explain to him that he will one day be at the mercy of six big bossy hens...and that crap wont fly with them.

Congrats on the CL male you kept. Is he your only CL? Don't forget to post his pics as he matures!

Do you happen to take before during and after pics of the frostbite process?

I feel awful for my males, and the CL males always get it the worst. This year my poor boy has severe frostbite on his comb, he will end up losing the entire comb this winter and will be dubbed by nature, he also has some major frostbite going on on his wattles. I have never dealt with frostbitten wattles so I am not sure what to expect. My Rees male also has frostbite on his comb and wattles.

I have already recently posted him but here he is again, picture taken today

CP:
This is my main guy after winter #1 (it was tough last year)

Before

This is junior before winter set in

Main guy had a really nice crop, because I don't need to show him, I am perfectly fine with passing his genetics to the next generation....

Just a warning: main guy got an infection from the frost bite and his wattles looked like they had grapes inserted....brought him inside for a week and placed water and food 24" off the floor (he couldn't bend over to eat or drink)....and gave him some tetracycline.....after a week he was ready to go back outside...he's a good guy and has drawn a fox off a couple of girls...and has let some baby chooks roost next to him on the roost....
