Creating a half-shed coop from existing shed

Yeah, the dust -- think I'll keep my wall solid! There will be windows on 3 sides and we have gorgeous summers here: low humidity, rarely low 90s (90 was our highest temp last summer), and always cools down at night!

Well I tried to take some pictures but there is still too much stuff in and around it to get one and I'm not moving stuff in the snow right now haha - but the shed is about 10-12 ft wide and I think we are going about 8 ft in

For my shed/coop I'm planning on a solid wall between the two parts with a door (the only door into the coop). Any advantage to a mesh wall?

I like the mesh walls for visibility, and more of an open feel so it isn't this closed off little room

Thank you to anyone who has contributed to my thoughts, and this site in general for giving me some amazing ideas, I am impressed with myself (self-proclaimed NOT a builder, our current coop was a STRUGGLE) But I'm a couple steps into our new coop (calling it the "hen house") and honestly impressed with myself LOL! Next steps are to put plywood down for the floor (eventually I'll get some vinyl floor in, but I gotta find some first!) and put plywood on one of the walls, that has a lot of cracks/holes in the wood -- Then I get to cut out that back door space and build some doors to go there! After that it's off to the outside to make the 8x10 run.

Any suggestions for what kind of closure for the door to the outside? I want it to be able to open from the inside or outside, is a normal door knob the only option?

You could just put a regular steel door in or a screen door inside with steel door outside. That way weather protected in the winter and summer ready.

Mine doesn't have one, just a loop-n-hasp with a spring clip.

...I gasped at those latches, they frequently will lock someone in, I advise against them.
Course there are two there with the dutch door so if only one fails, you'll be able to get out. This is what I use for my coop doors, oh and there's screen door spring for autoclose. More pics on my coop page about half way down.

I use these for my "gate latches" on my two run doors. I suppose the risk with using these on those dutch doors is if a chicken gets smart enough to pull it and open the door. Haha.

Yes...he didn't want pants and wouldn't get out of the photo, typical! Haha

Idk, because they I have to figure out how to build all that in? Lol, I don't know how to do that part (though, I suppose it can't be THAT hard right?)

The gate latches work there, I have them set up with a chain to pull from the inside to get out..but you can also just stick your finger through the chicken wire to flip it up, no getting locked in there Definitely wouldn't work with a solid door and wall haha

For the options regarding the exterior door and wanting it to be "openable" from both sides....I can only think of a regular doorknob, or the same gate latch cable again. But then you can't securely lock the coop since locking it with a gate latch means you can't open it from the non-locked side.
