Creating the chicken coop & run...

Love the dog enclosure. I had a similar one installed about a month ago, and I'm almost done making the coop to go inside. I learned a few things in the process that may help you. First, measure the door into the run, since your coop probably shouldn't be quite as wide as the doorway. The only way around this limitation, that I thought of it a bit late, is to build in a "pre-fab" style, carry the walls into the run, then finish assembly inside the run. I also recommend using two drills in the building process - one for drilling pilot holes, the other with a driver bit for driving screws in. Sounds obvious, but it really saves lots of time and frustration. Last, the nest boxes don't have to be outside the coop, and it's much simpler to put them inside. Just takes a bit more planning. This is the first time I've ever tried to make something this complicated, and with no help at all (except advice from various Home Depot folks). Mine is looking a bit junky, but the hens aren't laughing, and they really want it done.If I knew how to attach an image I'd send one, still learning ! Good luck:cool:
