I went to a poultry swap Sat. in Sharpsburg, MD. I was a bit disappointed due to the very limited #'s and breeds of chickens there. It was the first time I had ever been to one so maybe I was just expecting more than what they generally are.
One man had several different game birds which were interesting! I asked what one pair was and he replied Creel. I always thought creel was a color instead of a breed??? They were bantam sized. Wish I had asked how much he wanted for them.

Saw some others chickens that I had been looking for, which is s good thing, as I decided I could live w/o those breeds. I did decide I would like a "normal"??? brown colored silkie. What color is that really called??? It was chocolate colored.

I had to drive 2 1/2 hrs to get there so I was disappointed. I get to go back home tomorrow after helping my daughter and her DH this past wee. My 1 month old granddaughter had to have surgery for pyloric stenosis. She is doing much, much better now. Will be so exciting to see my chicks again!!!

I have a partridge silkie. Here she is with one of her babies. She has neat blue ears :) Is this the "normal" brown you were talking about?

It looks pretty close. The one I saw was a chocolate color all over and I checked out Silkie colors and it mentioned original color?

I am traveling from Garrett Co MD to Accomac Co. VA tomorrow on the way home. I posted a want ad hoping I could find someone along that route that might have some Silkies for sale.
