Creeping Charlie, do ducks eat it and if so how well?

This has been a bad year in North Central Indiana with creeping charlie. I'm 53 and I can't ever recall it being this bad around here. I've located some Black Indian Runner Ducks and was looking for some Black Cayuga Ducks to help with weeding and pest removal.

We have 1/4 acre fenced in and was wondering if we got some of these breeds of ducks if they would eat creeping charlie well enough to go to the bother getting them.

Welcome to BYC!

They can eat it, meaning it's not toxic, but that doesn't mean they will eat it. People say ducks will eat various weeds we have in our yard. Ours do eat those weeds...provided we pull them up, chop them, and put them in a food dish. There are never any guarantees.

I wouldn't recommend to anyone to get ducks just for weed control. I promise you that the ducks are more work than the weeds are. There are many considerations about owning ducks...feed, shelter, predators, bathing water, etc. They're a years-long commitment if they're properly cared for, but they will bring you a lot of joy if you had already planned to get them as companions and not just for weed control.
