For years my Will stated I was to be cremated and taken to a ceramic shop, put into slip, made into a lamp and gifted to my ex-husband with a note that read "A gift from my heart, now you can finally turn on one of your ex-wives" (he has 4 of them)

Doh....LOL DH would not stand for that now sooooooooo those plans cancelled.

After every usuable part has been harvested for transplants, I would prefer to be freeze-dried. I hate the idea of burning up in a fire or oozing away underground. Of course, there are some issues. DP says she would find it disturbing to have me propped up on the end of the couch, plus the cats might use me as a scratching post. I told her she could feed the little shavings to the fish, but for some reason, she doesn't see the logic in this. I also gave her the option of putting several good coats of varnish on me, then setting me out in the garden. I love the garden, and I'll bet I'd make a good scarecrow. That will keep that woodchuck away from the veggies for sure!
For some reason though, I have a feeling she won't follow through on this.

2nd choice- Promessa Organic Burial. http://www.promessa.se/facts/how-its-done/?lang=en
Basically, they submerge your body in liquid nitrogen, which cause it to become extremely brittle. They then subject the body to vibrations of an amplitude which cause the now brittle body to crumble to a powder. This powder is then freeze dried. They then give your loved ones your powdered remains in a nice bio-degradable corn-starch box. Because the body has been rendered inert, the powder can be handled like ashes; there are no health risks to disposal. I would like part of me dispersed to all my favorite places, part of me kept with my loved ones, and part of me buried beneath an oak sapling.

That is fantastic. In a weird way it would be the only reason I wished my ex was still alive.

Then again I am happy with status quo.

You see I have an ex or two .........................................

Did you hear about the little boy who went to church and heard the pastor give a sermon on death. He quoted the passage, "from dust we were made and to dust we return", and it made quite an impression on the young man. He came home and went to his bedroom to ponder what he'd learned. Shortly he called excitedly for his mom who came running in to see what was the matter. He was on hands and knees looking under his bed and said, " Mama, you won't believe this but there's somebody either COMING or GOING under my bed right now!!!!!!!"

I have always said cremation because 1. I don't like to be locked away and can't get out. 2. just don't want to litter up the earth. 3. hate obligation and i feel leaving the burden to a family member to keep my grave site clean is not fair. I know in some cases a grave site is suppose to be a visiting place, but I would rather them head to the lake where I want to be scattered over and enjoy the outside rather than a square with a rock on it.

Several have mentioned green burials -- what is that -- it's new to me.
