Crested and leopard gecko info

Ewww!

I've totally had moments like that. I once picked up a pretty little bluebird that I found dead in the barn. I went to show it to my dad and realized it was FILLED with maggots. Ughhh...I wanted to throw up!

Thanks for the info, Madison. I'd like to try getting together some items while I have money. At least i know I can use some items whether I decide to get a leo or a crested.

If you get the Crestie from a show, they will most likely have packets of food available for you. That's where I purchased mine because there are also many vendors that will sell it. It lasts for a long time as well.

Thanks Jordan! I'm really hoping to get to a show at the end of January, right after I go back to school. I actually haven't ever seen crested geckos in pet stores around us, so it looks like I will be forced to buy one from a breeder anyhow!

Actually, I just thought of another question:

How much do crested and leopard geckos typically sell for? I know there are probably rare colors, but I will probably just get a common colored one to start off with. I can't imagine that they would be too expensive, but I also don't want to be spending $100 for a small lizard.

You're welcome, Lauren! It's actually best to get them from a breeder anyways. As for price, I paid $40 a piece for mine. You can get the less colorful ones for $20-$30 and if you don't mind if they have a tail, you can get a tail-less juvi sometimes for around $35-$40! But like you said, prices vary. Heck, I've seen some pretty extravagant ones sell for about $300! As for leos, Madison will have to help you there. I'm not too familiar with them, although she tried to talk me into getting one at the show we went to, lol.

Lol I was totally trying to get you to buy another tangerine female, Jordan! But noooooo you just had to get more cresteds! laaaaaawls. I'm actually selling my pair now to make more room for my snakies.

If you just get a normal baby, you can probably find them around the same prices as the cresteds, actually. Mine were hypo tangerine carrot tails (i'll post a pic) and were almost full grown so they were $150-200 each.
