Crested Duck Question

This may be a dumb question, but do all crested ducks have a skull deformity or is it the luck of the draw with some ducks being “normal” and others with disadvantages? I’m just curious because I feel like from everything I’ve read answers are all over the place.

All crested have a scull deformity, but not all are affected neurologically.
